It has so much potential but has obviously been intended for Joe public to pick up. No squad or squad leader spawn?
I found it to be like cod with a spawn point a mile away.

There is squad spawn in the game. Not sure how you are not seeing that.
As for spawning on a checkpoint/controlpoint. I agree - why are we spawned so far away
